IT-OT convergence is taking place even if you're jumping on this train or not. If your company or the company you're contracted to do work for is NOT converging their IT and OT systems, they are already behind in this competitive world. Here is why.

The OT environment is a great source for data regarding how your utility systems, processing systems, and production lines are running. To optimize your operations, data must be fed to a data processing system in order to create key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring and predicting operations. These KPIs must be calculated and presented to those individuals (maintenance, operators, supervisors, managers, executives, whoever) to make the necessary decision, take action and improve. How can you improve if you don't have feedback? That's what it really comes down to.

Now you have some what of an understanding of why IT-OT convergence is important but I haven't really answered the question to "Why this Blog?".

The motivation is to demonstrate how to convergence IT-OT systems, either from a security, system or network perspective. More importantly, this blog serves as a diary for myself on how I solve IT-OT convergence problems or how I deliver these solutions. I'm set out to lay down the procedure and technical ground work on how to implement IT-OT systems as I progress through my journey.

In addition, I am looking for challenging opportunities from individuals like yourself who are in need of a Proof of Concept (PoC). So feel free to send me any challenges you're facing or ideas you're thinking of implementing. I hope to serve this community and enable those individuals to advance into the future.
